Peter Newcomer, MD, is the senior associate dean for clinical affairs. He provides clinical leadership for patient care across the UW Health enterprise.

In his clinical leadership role, he strives to ensure that patients in all settings receive consistently exceptional, evidence-based care and an outstanding patient- and family-centered experience.

Newcomer is also professor of medicine with an active practice at UW Health West Clinic. Prior to his associate dean role, Newcomer served for two years as UW Health’s chief ambulatory medical officer. In that role, he helped advance many UW Health initiatives, from Health Link implementation and optimization to care transitions and coordination of care, as well as implementation of UW Health Ambulatory Service Standards.

Newcomer also previously served as vice chair for operations and quality in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health’s Department of Medicine.

A board-certified internist, Newcomer earned his medical degree at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, then completed his internship and residency training at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He holds a master’s degree in medical management from Carnegie Mellon University.
